Stephen is 23 years old who suffers from Freidriech's Ataxia, a form of Muscular Dystrophy. Steve is still able to walk but he has many challenges. His ability to walk is deteriorating as the point that one day he was in a public parking lot on his way to meet his mother at a video store. As he was walking across the parking lot of the shopping center, he was stopped twice within 10 minutes by 2 different police officers. The officers thought Steve was drunk. One of the officers was so rude and would not listen to Steve, at the point he was about to handcuff Steve and take him to jail for public drunkenness. Steve had not been drinking. Steve insisted that he was not drunk and attempted to tell the officer that he could not control his rough gait due to a disability that he has. This day was very demeaning for Steve. There are many stories about how Steve is looked down on because of his disability.
